Cochon Volant: Another Lovely Meal

Cochon Volant is one of the loveliest restaurants in Chicago.  It has one of the 6 best burgers in town.  Located inside the new Hyatt Centric hotel in The Loop, Cochon Volant is one of the 7 great hotel restaurants in this city.  It has been over six months since I was last there, so I decided to stop in for some dinner with friends.

Cochon Volant is located just 2 blocks west of the Monroe ‘L’ stop, along the CTA Red Line and 1 block west of the Monroe ‘L’ stop, along the CTA Blue Line.  The #22 Clark bus stops there as well.

Here’s how our dinner went down:

After ordering some wine, my friends and I split this gorgeous roast beet salad with goat cheese, candied walnuts, pickled shallots and aged balsamic vinegar.  It was hearty enough for a full meal but it was great to share as an appetizer.

For my main entree, I chose this light and lovely whitefish with a beurre noisette sauce, lemon and capers. The fish was really moist and perfectly cooked.

Audrey chose this salmon served over lentils which was also really tasty and healthy.

Barb went with the roast chicken and fries which is another menu staple at Cochon Volant.  It is well worth having.

The three of us decided to split a side of the roasted cauliflower which I would return to have as a main course.  The sauce on this veggie dish was intoxicating.  Seriously, folks.  I would eat a piece of linoleum, if Chef Matt put this sauce on it.  Wow!

I would eat a piece of linoleum, if it was dressed in the same sauce as this roasted cauliflower!

I love the service and decor at Cochon Volant.  It is reminiscent of a traditional French brasserie. I cannot wait to drop by for breakfast or brunch.
